DxO PureRAW 5 Is Just Around The Corner
This is a first for me in that this is the first time on my blog that I have talked about a new product which I haven’t yet even sampled.
It is also the first time that I have published a story which doesn’t include any of my own photographs!
However, as DxO were kind enough some time ago to reach out to me and offer me the opportunity to use some of their current range of software I feel it is only fair that I try to pay them a little back in kind by promoting the new DxO PureRAW 5 which is due for launch on April 15.
Spoiler alert! I am NOT a DxO PureRAW user at this time simply because Photolab 8 currently meets, and exceeds, all my photo-processing needs; however I did trial PureRAW back in 2021 and was very impressed with it.
Now with version 5 on the horizon I cannot wait to get my hands on it judging by the information just released by DxO.
Here is a quotation taken directly from DxO’s press release about PureRAW 5. It is:
…the ultimate solution for RAW image quality, introduces local adjustments, expanded performance for Bayer and X-Trans sensors, and much more.
DxO’s RAW processing is legendary, with its combination of over 100,000 camera/lens combinations, providing almost perfect image corrections with very little user input.
Now however, DxO have added local adjustments to the process allowing fine tuning of denoising levels, sharpness levels and detail extraction on very specific parts of the image, providing users with an extremely precise and fine level of control.
PureRAW 5 will also see the introduction of the latest generation of DxO’s top notch noise reduction and sharpening tool – DeepPRIME 3. DxO says that DeepPRIME 3 takes performance to another level by providing “images that are unbelievably clean and rich in detail“.
If you thought DxO’s noise reduction was good up till now – wait till you try DeepPRIME 3. I say that very confidently based on improvements in noise reduction I have noticed over the years using DxO’s software.
Here is an example of an image (DxO supplied) cleaned up using DxO PureRAW 5.
And this time around Fujifilm camera users haven’t been forgotten either with DxO offering DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans Beta for X-Trans photographers.
PureRAW 5 also features a new interface giving users, DxO says, “a smoother more streamlined workflow”.
DxO PureRAW 5 is due for release on 15th April, but if you pre-order DxO will supply a free copy of DxO PureRAW 4 with an automatic update to version 5. But if you want to try before you buy a full unlimited trial version of PureRAW 5 will be available for download from DxO on release day.
I suggest that you visit DxO’s website for pricing as any figures I supply as being current today, will inevitably vary due to exchange rate fluctuations.
And by the way DxO PureRAW 5, as with all other DxO software, is perpetual license software – i.e. no on-going subscription!
